Over the last few days I4A has been working with ABC news to cover the story of displaced artists from the North. Thanks to the participation of Aboucar Maiga (Goundam), Mahamadou Telfi Toure (Goundam), Khaira Arby (Toumbouctou), Afel Bocoum (Niafunke), Leila Gobi (Meneka), Ousmane Maiga & the Super Onze (Gao), Hama and Ibrahim Cisse (Niafunke), Baba Salah (Gao), and many many more.
Instruments4Africa is committed to cultural preservation, helping artists keep their practice alive so they can continue to empower their communities. We are currently assisting families of displaced musicians and artists from the North of Mali. Families receive food, medicine, school fees, until they can get back on their feet and provide for themselves. We are also partnering with other agencies and businesses to sponsor artists to play at events and get regular gigs in Mali and abroad. Funds raised will enable 14A to significantly expand the number of families we serve. I4A is a volunteer managed organization. We have been operating in Mali since 2002 and are still in the country.
